And before you go into saying I don’t know what it is like. Just to let you know I had two DUIs in two years and between the ages of 17-24 I would get hammered almost every day(still go through college with a 3.33 GPA though). I had to go to AA for three months and I never wanted to drink so much in my life, sobered up on my own 4 years ago but still have a drink here and there with out ending up in jail, institutionalized or the grave like they say.
Only 5% of people in AA stay sober for a year or more and that is the same percentage as people who quite on their own. It is ineffective. And that it only works if you work it line is B.S. through and through, it is the same line faith healers use when someone they treat dies. Plus only the AMA considers it a disease not the WHO. The AMA only did that when they needed to so insurance companies would cover rehab which is a multi billion dollar a year industry. That is why 28 days is the standard duration of "treatment" because that was the most the insurance companies would pay for that back then. Also something cannot be a disease when the cure is simply to stop doing it. You cannot simply stop doing cancer.

mman 18 it is more of a learned behavior the only genetic part is your tolerance to alcohol not the addictiveness. I have only seen my parents drink a couple of dozen of times and have no drunks in the family and I was a hardcore booze hound. I just learned to do it in college by being around so many people who did drink.
No BANNIBAL you cannot cure diabetes with not eating sugar. Do you know what diabetes is? It is the inability of the body to produce insulin or the tolerance the body gets to insulin. Sugars come from many things any type of grain, fruit or vegetable. You cannot live on just meat, although I wish I could. As for the government considering it a disease, In 1988, the US Supreme Court upheld a regulation whereby the Veterans’ Administration was able to avoid paying benefits by presuming that primary alcoholism is always the result of the veteran’s "own willful misconduct." The majority opinion written by Justice Byron R. White echoed the District of Columbia Circuit’s finding that there exists "a substantial body of medical literature that even contests the proposition that alcoholism is a disease, much less that it is a disease for which the victim bears no responsibility".[30] He also wrote: "Indeed, even among many who consider alcoholism a "disease" to which its victims are geneticall
Heres the deal-about three years ago my wife went into rehab for alcoholism-she came out of treatment and sex was off the table a while as she struggled to stay sober. That struggle is now 3 years old. I love her to death but the lack of any real physcial contact istempting me to look elswhere. ( I havent, but it is tempting-even a high class escort for just one night)
Has any Married couple been through this? maybe not for the same reason but the same problem…She seems to have no interest in it or me..She says it is not me but she is unwilling to find out what it is…….I know she is not cheating etc. She goes to AA meetings 3 x a week. How much time is enough time before YOu would look elsewhere.
Update-
It is just not the physical part-(grown up discussion) a guy can handle that -hell look at porn and handle it—-I know that sounds crass but it is a way it can be done——-hell thats the only argument we have———"you look atporn" GOD lady we havent touched each other in 3 years…..
the funny thing is–is I honestly love her but am just growing tired of growing tired–if you know what I mean—-
Maybe wI will suggest we talk to someone (she wont) then Perhaps I have to do something else……….any wifes in Mass in the same fix-we can help each other out (kdding-not by much)
Menace,
Thanks for the answer. I know and understand what your saying. When I speak to her about our relationship she says she still loves me, and wants to stay together and there definitly is no one else etc. I believe her. Drunk or sober she is the most honest person i Know. She will not tell a "white lie’ to any of the kids. I think she has some clinical depression and is not dealing with some issues that are bothering her. I would welcome her saying lets figure a way to split- hell I have offered-if it was that she has had ample time to say yes—–just what it is though i do not know—–perhaps I will give it one more try and if not successful perhaps move on. The funny thing is that during her drinking period we had some serious family problems and we made it-I stuck by when she was drinking-I want to stick by when she is sober…I just dont want to be a brother….

I’m due to give birth next week and I am no longer with the father because of his heavy drinking. I want him to be in my sons life as a positive role model but I am scared for him to have private visitations. How am I supposed to provide proof to the courts of his alcoholism? And will they order him to get treatment before he has unsupervised visitations? He does have 2 DUI’s, drug charges and a stay in rehab, but they are over 10 years old.
