While “tough love” works it walks a fine line. You can do the right thing and still fail miserably at helping the addict. Don’t just trust you gut instincts, talk to professionals that deal with addicts daily. Many of the professionals are former addicts and can give you advice and help beyond your own capabilities. This is a beautiful story of people communicating and working through a horrific problem. Never judge an addict too quickly…

Sad to see that you do not have a ‘healing’ understanding of addiction. With 31 years of sobreity under my belt I can knowledgeably tell you that this Mom TRULY loves her daughter and did the right thing.

I truly don’t understand the appeal to alcohol, or cocaine and amphetamines for that matter… but I guess it just goes against my chemistry. Cannabis is the only mind altering substance that I feel is worthy of being used, alcohol makes me feel ill… different strokes for different folks I guess, I’d prefer not to take anything that can kill me in the short term,.

I did an interview with author Dr Simon Casey who specializes in helping people with addictions, mental illness and relationships. You can listen to it for free at my youtube channel. I hope this helps people out there that need information and support.

Glad they have a relationship now, but didn’t this mother ever stop to ask herself…WTF did me and my husband do to make this girl so crazy? After watching the full length video and listening, the mother goes on to say the husband was an alcoholic and she was an enabler. I’m sure she also did a lot of heavy duty shopping and lots of lunches with the gals. I think the mother shut down and neglected her children. The energy she gives off is that of a very selfish person. No wonder the girl ran!

A drug is a drug! Whether it’s booze, coke, shrooms, LSD, meth, ecstasy…AND YES WEED!!! YOU CAN BECOME ADDICTED TO MARIJUANA! People can become addicted to anything…including people. No drug is “WORTHY” of being used. In you saying that…you have already given it power, and have made it your drug of choice. Marijuana addiction is an awful addiction causing lethargy, stupidity, depression, and a feeling of hopelessness. In the beginning you laugh a lot, but not in the end.

“If you find self-reform too hard
In spite of your intense desire
For lack of firmness to discard
The habits that stink of the mire,
There is no reason to despair,
Try what you can time and again,
Beseech your Maker to repair
The faults and you in strength will gain.”
